Welcome in!

The case of the Hobby Lobbyist is simple: the things you do outside of work — dinner parties that turn into cocktail parties that turn into sleepovers, bringing a baked good to someone’s party that people still talk about, the satisfaction of completing a craft you’ve been procrastinating on for months, a slow Sunday stroll through the market (both farmer’s and flea) — aren’t luxuries or indulgences.

They are the moments that make life whole. They deserve to be celebrated, invested in, documented, and shared.

In law school, I clung to what made me feel sane — baking brownies for my classmates, hosting friends in my small studio apartment, and exploring New York in my own way. This mainly meant bakeries and religious trips to the Union Square Farmer’s Market.

Since then my belief that passions outside of work or study are invaluable anchors has only grown…as have my hobbies. I now count embroidery, writing, reading, following baseball (Go Yankees), and fueling an unhealthy addiction to Soul Cycle among my cadre of interests.

Enter, the Hobby Lobbyist, a phrase that has been my personal Instagram handle for half a decade, and now a place to record my passions, celebrate my favorite moments in life, and (likely) invite you to do the same.

I share my apartment with my boyfriend Anthony and my two cats, Mizora (pictured) and Raphael.

Come on in — do you want a drink?
